Intermediate Wheel - Tuesday 6-9PM With instructor Ryan McKerley
This six week session includes one three hour class a week, taught by Ryan McKerley every Tuesday night 6:00-9:00pm, and open studio hours throughout the week.
This class will focus on making functional objects from start to finish. We will talk about important process considerations starting with clay from the block and continue through the glazing and firing of the pieces. Ryan will talk about many fundamentals that may have been overlooked in your process. Ryan will offer many helpful hints and tricks he uses to get objects successfully through the work flow stages. We will focus on proper wheel techniques, proper handling and drying of greenware, proportions as it relates to shrinkage and safe drying, glazing for gas and soda kilns, and much more. If you want to tighten up what you’ve learned thus far, this class is for you.
In addition to the weekly class, this six week session includes at least 6 hours of open studio (two open studio shifts), and 3 hours of glazing (one glazing shift) per week, all by reservation. The open studio hours are meant to provide you time to practice the skills you learn in class.
The price includes all of the necessary tools, glazes, and firing fees (bisque and glaze firings). All students will purchase their own clay from Armadillo Clay Supply (right next door to us).
Once registered, you will receive an email with more details regarding your upcoming pottery class at East Side Pot Shop. We look forward to working with you!
